We give our Humanitarian of the Year Award – created by Field Ready’s governing board -– each year to an individual whose passion, dedication and creativity has improved the lives of others who are affected by unsolved grand challenges.
Now in its third year, the Humanitarian of the Year Award was created to recognize humanitarians in practice, and to acknowledge less-recognized humanitarians who are making a genuine impact. The award is open to not just Field Ready staff but also to partners and others who advance our unique global vision.
Our 2020 winner is Jean Matthias, Field Ready’s Operations Manager in Fiji.
“Jean impresses everyone with her hard work and dedication to helping others,” said Field Ready Co-Founder and Executive Director Eric James, Ph.D. “Her readiness to take on tasks – no matter how small or how big – inspires others and makes all of us want to do better.”
Jean was instrumental in successfully implementing Field Ready’s project in Fiji which provides unique assistance preparing for and responding to disasters in that country. More details on Jean's contributions can be found here. “She is not only a credit to this organization and those around her, but to humanity everywhere,” said James.
“Our Humanitarian of the Year Award goes to those who truly demonstrate the vision and impact our founders have set out in transforming international aid for better,” said Field Ready Board Member Conrad Nowak.
For individuals, institutions and governments that support and contribute to the humanitarian cause, please take a look at this year‘s award recipient. As with our previous winners, Jean is truly the embodiment of commitment in action.
The staff, leadership and Board of Directors of Field Ready are truly honored to recognize her accomplishments.
